Sunaina's blankie - embellished....

Sunaina decided to embellish the baby blankie I made for her baby Sanjana... We hadn't known what sex the baby was when I found out about her pregnancy so I made the blankie a gender neutral one (just in case you know).

She brought it to work one day (more than a month ago now) to show me what she'd done and here are the pictures! So lovely! I'm not very good at embellishing so I was really amazed with it...

Kid's Fun Day

Last weekend, my mom and her team organised a Kid's Fun Day for some clients' children and also invited some people from church. We had a pizza making session, cupcake decorating session (both led by your truly), craft sessions including creating a booklet for Father's Day, flowers for Mommy and beaded bracelet making, and for the younger kids, playing with Play Doh and bubbles.

The 2 following pictures were taken during the cupcake decorating session:

Say "Hi" to Melissa who was sorting out the door gifts for the kids.

Here's Su Ling helping Ashley out with her Father's Day gift...

We also had the chocolate fountain, which was a big hit with the kids (and some adults too).

This is the adorable Joshua who happily licked up all the icing just moments after smothering the cupcakes with a whole dollop. (Notice his cute little apron and lanyard? Each kid received an apron which they were supposed to wear to keep their clothes clean. And we gave them lanyards with their names on it so we'd know who was who since there were 40+ kids.)

And to end, here is an amusing picture of my niece Ashley... Luckily we didnt get any icing on the furniture! Haha...

The Invasion of the Teddybears

Mom's been shopping again. And it's not all clothes and shoes and bags. At one of the wholesalers on Petaling Street that she usually sources her stuff from, here's the latest items to invade our home.... teddy bears...

There's more bears in much larger sizes too and even bears decked out in LV and Burberry and all bedazzled... all for a charity event that she's involved in. I can't say much cos I dont know how much I'm allowed to reveal but I will hopefully be able to post pictures of the end products. I've seen the prototypes and they are cute!

P/S: If you're wondering why I'm so free to be blogging in the afternoon, it's because I'm home sick today. The multiple-sneezing got really bad yesterday so I'd gone home to rest but I had to come back to office to listen in on a results conference call and sort some things out. This morning I woke up with a killer sore throat and killer headache to match. I've done the whole take VitC-drink lots of water-gargle with salt water-drown my misery by watching E! nonsense so I'm feeling better now. Except the headache threatens to make a comeback every few hours... ugh... this is so annoying. And I look like Rudolph on a bad day. Now let me go wallow in my misery.

RCIA Kids Craft and Baking Day

Ma has been planning a little gathering for the RCIA kids in our house for ages. So now that Easter's over and RCIA 2008 has ended, she alloted one fine Saturday for the kids and moms to come over to do some crafts, to bake cookies and to decorate cupcakes.

Special mentions are Godsis Olivia who helped with the crafts and to Godbro Calvin who taught the baking and decorating sessions.

Here's a pic of Olivia and some of the kids stamping out paper cutouts to be pasted on little individual notebooks. (Sorry we forgot to take pictures of the books themselves)

Here is Ma helping Godsis Sarah with decorating her cupcake while the other girls looked on. (Don't worry, there were loads of cupcakes, cream and toppings for everyone to decorate and bring home)

And here is Calvin teaching the kids how to make sugar cookies..

Calvin's specialty is actually cake decorating. (Check out his website, Black Forest Tavern). He's recently returned from the UK where he was for a few weeks teaching folks there. This a lovely rose he made for one of the little girls.

I chipped in too! Made sausage puffs for their snack, although this was my first time trying this particular brand of puff pastry I bought from the Village Grocer. Not very nice!

Of course, when we have kids over, we just HAVE to set up the chocolate fountain. Served with an assortment of crackers, marshmallow, strawberries and grapes. We also had more filling stuff, namely French fries (that practically disappeared the moment I took it out of the kitchen!), Mom's fried noodles, fried chicken drummets and wings.

And of course, special thanks to Rommel who took most of the pictures. :)

Mother's Day 2008 Fund-raising sale

The RCIA team at SFX is doing another fund-raising event - this time it's for Mother's Day. The ladies were over at my house last Saturday decorating and packing everything..

For those interested in buying for your mommy dearest, we're selling them this Sunday morning at St Francis Xavier church, Jalan Gasing, PJ. Best time to buy is right after the 8.30am Mass, i.e. around 9.45am. We did not make a lot of baskets to sell this time as my mom is away in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Here are some of the things for sale:

I noticed that the beautiful orchids we got from the Climate Change Gala last Saturday have been placed in the foyer. Looks nice!

And here's a pic of May, Calista and myself at the gala.
